The Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) is a Melbourne-based Australian Government statutory agency. It was established in 1980 under the Family Law Act 1975. AIFS’ mission is to conduct high-quality, impartial research into the well-being of Australian families, to inform government policy and promote evidence-based practice in the family services sector.

AIFS engaged Bliss Digital for Phase 3 of their project, which involved developing the new AIFS website in Drupal based on provided design artefacts from Phase 2; migrating content to the new site (working with AIFS’ content specialists); and re-platforming the site while developing a support model to provide for its ongoing functioning and continued development.

The AIFS website, which we launched in 2022, is a complex Drupal build aimed at presenting the research conducted by AIFS in a way that was easy to understand and access. Our Drupal team set up the backend CMS so that AIFS staff can easily update the entire website.

The project followed a collaborative approach, with testing and refinement of the UX occurring right up to launch. The site, hosted on the Acquia platform, is genuinely a best-practice example of a complex and multi-faceted information website. Today, we continue to work with AIFS to maintain and enhance the website on a support relationship.
