AHURI is a national independent research network with an expert not-for-profit research management company, AHURI Limited, at its centre. As the only organisation in Australia dedicated exclusively to housing, homelessness, cities and related urban research, AHURI is a unique venture. Through their national network of university partners, they undertake research that supports policy development at all levels of government.

Our goal in creating a new website was to create an environment that was the best possible tool to share their research, which supports policy development at a Federal, State and Local level, assists industry in improving practice, and informs the broader community.

The key challenge we faced was in developing an information architecture to present the research and analysis AHURI produces. AHURI had a range of different content types and we were tasked to present that information clearly and make it accessible in a variety of ways. By developing clear taxonomy and customising the search results we were able to ensure meaningful interactions with the site.

Despite the breadth and complexity of information on offer, the design of the site is clean and simple, with a focus on readability for the user across all devices. This also means the site is easy for the internal team to update and maintain. This focus on ease of use was carried across the Drupal CMS, which was built so that all content editors could use the site confidently. Our Acquia-certified Drupal team was able able to integrate the site with Zoho CRM for webinars and events.

The site was successfully launched in 2021. We continue to work with AHURI, refining and improving the site on an ongoing basis in line with the feedback they receive from their users.
