Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre’s mission is to excite and motivate people through inspirational learning experiences. With two centres based in Canberra and a range of national and international engagement programs, Questacon’s website development is focused on an inclusive approach to STEM engagement

For their new website design and development, Questacon was seeking a collaborative partner, who possesses an appreciation for their brand values and who is capable of building a website which reflects a creative, respectful and inclusive culture which encourages all Australians to engage with STEM experiences. The website needed to be built within the GovCMS environment under the Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery model. The solution must support the government’s Digital Transformation Strategy (Digital Service Standards) and Questacon’s strategic vision.

Bliss Digital was selected from the approved Australian Government Drupal GovCMS Supplier Panel to work with Questacon on the project. Our team worked with Questacon to design a website that incorporates the Questacon design system including specific page layouts and functionality; whilst meeting WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and complying with its IRAP cyber security requirements. 

Our experienced Drupal GovCMS team, set up the website on the GovCMS SaaS Platform, configuring the backend of the website so that Questacon staff (both developers and non-developers) are able to update the website with ease. Our team were also able to write scripts to automate content migration from the legacy website. 

The project was a truly collaborative effort by Bliss and Questacon and we were able to successfully launch the new website before their target date of 30 June 2022.
